Private Sewage Disposal Systems
Private sewage disposal (Septic) systems are inspected by the National Association of Wastewater Transporters (NAWT) and the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) guidelines.
We always recommend that all systems have the main tank pumped which usually runs anywhere between $200.00 and $300.00 dollars. This is a separate fee and should be paid directly to the company that performs this service. Sometimes the pumping fee is paid by the seller and the buyer pays the inspection fee.
Note - The inspector must be onsite when the tank is pumped.
Having the tank pumped during the inspection process helps to provide a more thorough inspection, however a comprehensive inspection can be done without having the tank pumped if needed.
